Great spot for a quiet weekend getaway
We stayed in a cozy double room, and the highlight was definitely the chef. He. Real class.
Pricey but not too crazy given the experience.

Target audience old pub lovers
The atmosphere inside was cozy, felt like I was back in the days pouring pints. The staff were genuinely friendly, even prepared a late breakfast for us after we stumbled down to the pub.
Wasn't exactly cheap, but you get what you pay for.

Had an awesome time with friends! We explored the local shops and even tried some water skiing nearby. The breakfast was good, and the staff were super friendly. Just a heads up, it’s an old pub with some quirky charm, so expect some character in the rooms.
We noticed some noise from the bar area, which can be distracting at times, especially with smokers outside.

Would recommend for a getaway
Charming inn, convenient location, with delightful breakfast options including tasty bacon and sausages prepared by the attentive John, who went above and beyond regularly accommodating our breakfast requests.
No negatives to mention.

Not the best experience
Honestly, my stay was pretty rough. The room was freezing at night, and I had to layer up just to sleep. Plus, the shower was a nightmare—barely any water pressure and loads of grime. the breakfast was decent, and the bar area had a nice vibe. Location was pretty central too, which helped.

The charm of this establishment lies in its historic ambiance, showcasing unique traditional pub decor and community dining atmosphere. A decent selection of ales complements homemade meals, making for a cozy evening after a long day.
My stay was marred by several issues. The room felt cold and had a persistent tobacco smell, accompanied by grimy carpets that needed replacement. The bathroom seemed outdated and lacked that fresh touch, with cobwebs in the corners and evidence of inadequate cleaning. Late checkout arrangements were miscommunicated, leading to an early morning knock that disrupted my sleep. noise from late-night patrons drinking just outside my window made it hard to find peace, particularly for someone battling jet lag.

It was just a commendable fit for a rapid stop in Amersham with outstanding value for money. The unexpected drink offered by the owner after the mix-up with our room was a nice gesture, but it felt more like a consolation. Be prepared for some noise if there's an event happening nearby.
